Dealing with Heel Cuts

Sometimes you have to treat other people's horses then you have to treat your own.

Nugget - Bob's riding horse

A bad cut through the ball of the heel on the right hind.

A wooden wedge block of wood is taped to the foot to take pressure off the wound and sutures applied.

Cast applied over the wooden block.

Cast applied from the fetlock to the hoof.

Recovering from the sedation.

The cast stayed on for three weeks to help the healing process. Stay tuned for the progress pictures.
